Nestled in the remote Palamalai Hills of Salem District, Tamil Nadu, a small tribal school serves as a place of learning and hope for around 60 students. With 12 dedicated staff members, the school not only provides education but also serves three nutritious meals daily, ensuring the children receive essential care before returning to their homes each evening.
For years, the community has depended entirely on well water, as borewell facilities are unavailable in the region. Unfortunately, the existing water sources have become contaminated, leaving the school struggling to provide safe drinking water. Although temporary arrangements have been made through the local Panchayat, access to clean water remains a serious challenge.
Recognizing this urgent need, Aalayam conducted a site visit, assessed the water conditions, and decided to support the school by installing an 80-litre-capacity RO water purification system at a cost of ₹50,000.
This initiative will help provide safe drinking water to the students and staff, improving their health, hygiene, and everyday well-being.
At Aalayam, we believe every child deserves access to clean drinking water, regardless of how remote their home may be. Through this initiative, we hope to bring a healthier and brighter future to the children of Palamalai.
