#20181101 - BCom 3rd year student from Chennai

This student is pursuing her second year of a B.Com course in a college near Kanchipuram. She lives with her mother and younger brother in Chennai. Her father passed away eight years ago after suffering from diabetes and related illnesses.

Her mother is employed as a tailor in a garment export unit, earning Rs. 6,000 per month. Her brother is doing his 11th std from a nearby government school. This family lives in a house that is in the name of the father. However, the father had another wife and family, which is also claiming the house and there have been many conflicts.

The student was referred to Aalayam by a person living in the neighborhood. The mother is keen to provide her children with a good education in order to give them better employment opportunities. With her salary, she is unable to pay her daughter’s college fee, which was taken care by Aalayam team for the first year. For second year she has request us again and after review, Aalayam has approved Rs. 25,000 for this cause.
